The Government's capital expenditure surged 40%, widening the fiscal deficit to ₹5.7 trillion, or 37% of the FY26 budget expectation during H1. Despite a 1.5% rise in revenue expenditure, the revenue deficit decreased to ₹0.3 trillion. Gross tax revenues increased 8.4% in September, driven by a 34% spike in personal income tax filings.
