Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a joint venture agreement with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to expand the Chandrapura thermal power project by 1,600 MW. The project, estimated at ₹21,000 cr, will consist of two ultra-supercritical units of 800 MW each, with costs shared equally. This venture may also lead to further thermal and renewable energy projects.
