Exide Industries has infused ₹450 crore into its electric vehicle battery subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions Ltd, as its Bengaluru gigafactory nears commissioning. This investment, through the allotment of 11.25 crore equity shares at ₹40 each, raises Exide's total commitment to ₹4,802 crore. The funds will support last-mile requirements and target commercial production in H1 FY26.
This strategic move positions Exide to enhance its 6 GWh annual capacity for EV batteries, despite EESL reporting a loss of ₹209 crore in FY25, indicating potential short-term financial strain.
