India’s Nifty IT index fell 3.6% on Tuesday, reaching its lowest point since May 2023, driven by a weak earnings outlook and fears of declining demand for traditional IT services. Analysts at HSBC noted that fourth-quarter earnings from top-tier IT firms largely missed expectations, raising concerns about competition from AI spending. Shares of major IT companies, including Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Technologies, and Wipro, dropped between 2.5% and 4%.
