The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended the Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) Regulations, requiring registration fees to be specified in Indian rupees (INR). This change aims to simplify fee payments and reduce reliance on US dollar charges, enhancing the ease of doing business for foreign investors.
Under the new framework, fees will be collected in INR, while FPIs will remit amounts in eligible foreign currencies. This operational shift is expected to streamline processes for overseas investors entering the Indian capital markets.
