The Nifty India Defence Index fell 1.13% to 8,309.25, with 15 of 18 constituents in the red. Bharat Electronics dropped 1.56% to ₹456.10, HAL declined 0.97% to ₹4,001, and Bharat Dynamics fell 1.75% to ₹1,360.20. Despite a bullish outlook from Motilal Oswal, the index has lost nearly 885 points from its 52-week high of 9,195.15.

The decline occurred amid expectations of increased global defence spending due to rising tensions in West Asia, which accounted for 26% of global arms imports in FY25.
