India’s Railway Energy Management Company (REMC) has awarded 1GW of contracts for round-the-clock renewable energy to six companies, including Ayana Renewable Power and ReNew Solar Power. Each company secured between 130MW and 200MW at a tariff of ₹4.35 per kilowatt-hour. This move aims to enhance energy efficiency in the railway sector, with projects needing a minimum availability of 75% annually for the first three years.
