India's energy sector is set for a major transformation as Reliance Industries, NTPC, Adani Power, and Lalitpur Power Generation Company pledge $80 billion (₹6.5 lakh crore) to expand nuclear capacity in Maharashtra. This initiative aims to add 25.4 GW to the grid, addressing the rising energy demands from AI and data centers.
Key investments include $24 billion by Reliance for 7,200 MW, $18 billion by Adani for 6,000 MW, and $12 billion by NTPC for another 7,200 MW. These projects are projected to create over 123,000 jobs and were formalized through agreements with the Maharashtra government.
