Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) has signed an External Commercial Borrowing agreement worth USD 1.1 billion with a consortium of banks, including State Bank of India and HDFC Bank. This marks IRFC's first overseas borrowing in FY 2026–27, aimed at funding Indian railway infrastructure projects. The loan has a 5-year tenor and is benchmarked to the Tokyo Overnight Average Rate (TONAR).
