Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) has signed a USD 1.1 billion External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) agreement with a consortium of banks, including State Bank of India and HDFC Bank. This marks IRFC's first overseas borrowing for FY 2026-27, aimed at enhancing Indian railway infrastructure. The loan has a 5-year tenor and is benchmarked to the Tokyo Overnight Average Rate (TONAR).
