31 Dec 2026

Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have sought a three-month extension of the RBI's dollar-rupee forex swap window for External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) until March 2027. This extension could facilitate higher capital mobilization and boost capital expenditure as most funding needs arise in Q4. Currently, the window is set to expire on 31 Dec 2026.

• FCNR(B) deposits projected at USD 65-70 billion

• Total inflows including ECBs expected at USD 80-85 billion

• FCA increased by USD 7.6 billion since June 8

Immediate implications may include increased liquidity in the forex market and enhanced funding for PSUs.
