RBI measures may lead to balance of payments surplus

after close1 source ↓written by the desknot a recommendation

India's balance of payments could shift to a small surplus following recent measures by the RBI and government, as stated in HDFC Mutual Fund's July report. The RBI's decision to cover hedging costs for FCNR(B) deposits may attract USD 40-60 billion in inflows, easing pressure on the rupee.

• USD 17 billion already mobilized as of 17 July 2026.

This shift could strengthen India's external position and enhance capital inflows.
