Capital markets regulator Sebi has directed depositories to establish a framework for freezing promoter holdings at the ISIN level during share buybacks by 1 August 2023. This includes issuing operational guidelines for listed companies on freezing instructions and modalities for promoters to tender shares in buybacks.
