In a significant boost for the automotive sector, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the ₹9,000 crore Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) facility in Panapakkam. This greenfield plant, located 90 km from Chennai, has an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles. The first vehicle, a Range Rover Evoque, marks a milestone as it is fully manufactured in India.
