India has launched its first national container shipping line, Bharat Container Shipping Line (BCSL), announced by the Prime Minister on 29 Oct 2025. An MoU was signed on 3 Feb 2026 involving Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), and other key port authorities to establish the joint venture.

This initiative aims to enhance India's maritime economy and improve the ease of doing business, potentially boosting trade and logistics sectors significantly.
