The defence ministry has signed a ₹1,950 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for two mountain radars for the Indian Air Force. This acquisition aims to enhance air defence capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign technology.

• The radars are designed by DRDO and will be manufactured by BEL.

• This contract is pivotal for strengthening national security and is the last major acquisition of the previous financial year.
