Domestic equity benchmarks opened lower on 23 July, with Sensex at 76,515.10, down 239.95 points (0.31%) and Nifty at 23,904.80, slipping 91.45 points (0.38%). The Nifty Oil & Gas sector was the worst performer, declining nearly 1%, amid rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia and escalating crude oil prices.
Key losers included Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, IndiGo, and Infosys, falling up to 4% as Brent crude prices surged above $95 per barrel due to increased conflict in the region.
