CG Power and Industrial Solutions approved a ₹68 crore, net-of-tax investment to expand its power transformer manufacturing facility, following a Board meeting on 23 Oct 2026. The project will add 10,000 MVA of capacity and is scheduled for completion within 12 to 15 months. The expansion comes as the existing facility operates at high utilisation and demand for power equipment remains firm ⚡.
The Board also sanctioned additional brownfield capital expenditure across the switchgear and GIS divisions. Approvals included ₹300 crore for the S1 Unit OIP project at Ambad, approximately ₹15.31 crore for S3 Unit-II Phase 2, and ₹44.62 crore for the GIS Division at Vilholi. Together, the disclosed projects represent more than ₹400 crore of planned manufacturing investment, although the transformer project is the specific capacity addition highlighted in the company’s filing.
10,000 MVA capacity addition improves the company’s ability to serve larger transformer orders and can support operating leverage if the additional capacity is absorbed. The broader switchgear and GIS upgrades also expand manufacturing capability across equipment used in power transmission and distribution, linking the announcement to the electrical equipment and infrastructure supply chain 🏭.
OI Charts data showed the stock at ₹821.00 on 21 Oct 2026, down 4.0% on the day on volume of 2,591,591 shares. It had declined 3.9% over five sessions and 9.8% over 20 sessions, while remaining within a 52-week range of ₹525.50 to ₹980.90. In derivatives, futures open interest rose 5.5% alongside the price decline, indicating a short build-up. The put-call ratio was 0.6, with maximum pain at ₹850.
The 27 Oct 2026 expiry had six days remaining in the OI Charts read. The ₹850 strike carried the largest call open interest and the ₹860 strike the largest put open interest. These levels, along with execution progress and the company’s order pipeline, will be key reference points as the market assesses whether the investment translates into new capacity utilisation and revenue growth.
