Fitch sees minimal risk to Indian OMCs from Russian sanctions

after close1 source ↓written by the desknot a recommendation

Fitch Ratings reports that US sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, along with the EU’s ban on Russian refined products, are unlikely to significantly impact the margins or credit profiles of Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs). Russian crude represented one-third of India’s oil imports from January to August 2025, supporting OMC profitability.

While Fitch expects compliance with sanctions, some refiners may still source Russian oil. The long-term effects will depend on the duration and enforcement of these sanctions.
