VA Tech Wabag secured a ₹1,000+ crore order from Reliance Industries to design, engineer, supply, install, commission and performance-test a desalination plant and a remineralisation plant at Jamnagar, Gujarat. BusinessLine reported the order on 27 Oct 2026, corroborating the company disclosure cited by Equitypandit. The desalination facility will process 8,400 cubic metres of seawater per hour initially and can expand to 12,600 cubic metres per hour, or about 302 million litres a day. The remineralisation plant will have capacity of 3,000 cubic metres per hour 💧.
The project will use lamella clarifiers, dissolved air flotation filters, ultrafiltration, chemical dosing and backwash systems, followed by sea-water and brackish-water reverse osmosis systems. It also includes product-water storage and brine-outfall pumping systems. Execution is scheduled in phases over 25 months, giving the water-infrastructure company a sizeable industrial order and a reference project with a major customer. The award also reinforces demand for large-scale water-treatment infrastructure in energy and industrial complexes ⚡.
The announcement followed a sharp decline in the stock. OI Charts data showed the shares closed at ₹1,707 on 26 Oct, down 0.18% on the day, after losses of 4.3% over one session, 12.2% over five sessions and 17.6% over 20 sessions.
