The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) regulations, mandating that registration fees be specified in Indian rupees (INR). This change aims to simplify fee payments and reduce reliance on US dollar charges.
• FPIs will remit fees in eligible foreign currencies but calculated in INR.
• Designated Depository Participants (DDPs) must convert and remit the rupee equivalent within five working days after registration.
This move is expected to enhance the ease of doing business for foreign investors in Indian markets.
