Indraprastha Gas Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Delhi Division of Northern Railway on 31 Oct 2026 to supply commercial Piped Natural Gas to 22 railway locations across Delhi, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar. The agreement is intended to replace traditional fuels such as LPG and diesel with PNG at railway establishments, supporting cleaner operations across the Delhi-NCR network 🚆.
The first phase includes PNG supply for boiler operations at departmental mechanised laundries at Sarai Rohilla, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin and New Delhi stations. The partnership is also positioned as part of the National PNG Drive 3.0, linking railway fuel conversion with the wider push to reduce pollution in the national capital. For the city gas distributor, the arrangement adds a public-sector institutional customer and creates a route to incremental commercial gas demand, although the agreement does not disclose contract value, expected volumes or revenue contribution.
• The initial rollout covers 22 identified railway locations across three Delhi-NCR geographies.
• PNG will replace LPG and diesel in specified railway applications, beginning with mechanised laundry boilers.
• The commercial impact will depend on commissioning, site-wise consumption and any later expansion beyond the first phase.
OI Charts data showed the stock at ₹139.19 on 30 Oct 2026, down 1.73% for the session on volume of 878,389 shares. The stock had declined 2.2% over five sessions and 3.0% over 20 sessions. Its 52-week range stood at ₹138.23 to ₹219.10, with the recent low recorded on 26 Oct 2026. The agreement therefore provides a business-development catalyst against a weak recent price trend, but the disclosed terms do not yet establish the size of the earnings effect
Investors will watch for the start of supply, the number of stations commissioned, reported PNG volumes and any disclosure on additional railway facilities. Execution across the 22 locations will determine whether the MoU develops into a measurable commercial gas opportunity and supports broader fuel switching in transport infrastructure ⚡.
