Petronet LNG faces arbitration claims of ₹625.42 crore plus taxes and associated costs from the owners of three LNG vessels hired to transport gas from Qatar. The vessels — Disha, Raahi and Aseem — have remained largely idle since 2 Mar 2026 after disruptions linked to the Iran war. One vessel was deployed for about seven days in June, while operations for the other periods were suspended.
The ships operate under long-term charter agreements with three subsidiaries: India LNG Transport Company No.1, No.2 and No.3. The claims stood at ₹89.30 crore as of 31 Mar and increased to ₹625.42 crore by 30 Sep, according to the company’s earnings disclosure. Petronet LNG is contesting the claims and said the final outcome and any resulting financial impact cannot presently be determined. The disclosure does not establish that the full amount will become a payable liability.
The dispute puts the spotlight on contractual exposure in India’s LNG logistics chain ⚓. If the arbitration results in an adverse award, the company could face a material cash outflow or accounting provision; if the claim is rejected or reduced, the immediate financial impact would be lower. The case also shows how prolonged disruption to vessel utilisation can turn fixed charter commitments into a cost burden for gas importers and shipping-linked infrastructure.
OI Charts data for 2 Nov 2026 showed the stock at ₹300.95, up 4.0% on the day, with volume of 4,485,259 shares. It had gained 3.1% over five sessions and 6.4% over 20 sessions, while futures open interest rose 2.0% in a long build-up. The derivatives setup showed a PCR of 0.81, max pain at ₹295, the largest call open interest at ₹300 and the largest put open interest at ₹280 for the 23 Nov expiry.
Traders will watch the company’s next disclosures on the arbitration timetable, any interim orders, and whether a provision is recognised. In the near-term derivatives structure, ₹300 is the key call open-interest zone, while ₹280 is the main put-interest level; max pain at ₹295 provides a closely watched reference for the 23 Nov expiry. ⚖️
