The refinancing is intended to replace expensive debt and lower borrowing costs, supporting the UK-based group’s balance sheet as it advances plans to split its India-listed unit Vedanta Ltd. into five businesses. Vedanta Resources’ net debt stood at $4.9 billion on 31 Mar 2026, down from $8.9 billion five years earlier. The refinancing therefore matters for the metals and mining group because the maturity profile and interest cost of the replacement debt will affect cash flows available for operations, investment and the planned restructuring ⚙️.
