InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of IndiGo, reported a consolidated loss of ₹1,879.1 cr for the quarter ended 30 Sep 2026, narrower than the ₹2,582.1 cr loss recorded a year earlier. Total income rose to ₹24,312 cr from ₹19,600 cr, but total expenses increased to ₹26,188 cr as aircraft fuel costs surged 67.2% to ₹9,966.8 cr. Rupee depreciation added to the pressure on the airline’s dollar-linked operating costs. ✈️
The results show that stronger revenue was not enough to offset cost inflation. Management said the September quarter was seasonally soft and affected by exceptionally high fuel prices and geopolitical turmoil. Capacity reductions and yield management supported revenue performance, while CEO Willie Walsh said the carrier would maintain a prudent approach to capacity and focus on short-haul operations. Higher fuel costs and elevated airfares remain the key sector variables for airlines and passengers. ⛽
OI Charts data showed the stock closing at ₹4,675 on 29 Oct 2026, down 0.32% for the session, with volume of 441,892 shares. The stock had declined 5.4% over 20 sessions and traded within a 52-week range of ₹3,895 to ₹5,970. In derivatives, futures open interest rose 0.9% to 6,171,900 shares, indicating a short build-up alongside a 0.59% futures premium. The options put-call ratio stood at 0.91, with max pain at ₹4,700. The largest call open interest was at ₹4,700, while the largest put open interest was at ₹4,100 for the 23 Nov 2026 expiry.
The next market focus is the company’s ability to protect yields while fuel prices and the rupee remain volatile. The ₹4,700 max-pain and largest-call-open-interest level is the immediate options reference, while ₹4,100 marks the largest put-open-interest zone. Investors will also track capacity commentary, passenger yields, fuel costs and the next quarterly filing for evidence that revenue growth is translating into improved profitability.
