Odisha signed 18 memoranda of understanding for proposed clean-energy investments worth approximately ₹1.17 lakh crore on 03 Nov 2026. The agreements indicate a tentative capacity addition of around 11,742 MW across pumped-storage hydropower, solar, wind, hybrid renewable energy, battery storage, green hydrogen and green data-centre projects. The announcements were made at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 in New Delhi, which drew more than 900 delegates to an Odisha-focused investment session. ⚡
The proposals strengthen Odisha’s positioning as a potential renewable-energy and power-export hub, although the MoUs represent investment intent rather than commissioned capacity or final project awards. The planned mix includes both generation assets and supporting infrastructure, which could broaden opportunities across power transmission, storage, equipment manufacturing and clean-energy services. The state has outlined a longer-term objective of becoming one of India’s top five power-exporting states by 2047.
OI Charts data for 03 Nov showed mixed market positioning among listed renewable and power-sector companies:
- Adani Green closed at ₹1,339, up 0.2% on the day and 3.9% over five sessions. Its futures open interest fell 0.6%, indicating short covering. The ₹1,400 call had the largest call open interest, while the ₹1,300 put had the largest put open interest; max pain stood at ₹1,300 for the 23 Nov expiry.
- NTPC closed at ₹321.55, down 0.5% on the day but up 6.5% over five sessions. Futures open interest rose 1.8%, indicating short build-up. The largest call open interest was at ₹325, and max pain was ₹315.
- Tata Power closed at ₹356.55, up 0.2% on the day and 5.2% over five sessions. Futures open interest declined 0.9%, indicating short covering. Its largest call open interest was at ₹380, the largest put open interest at ₹350 and max pain at ₹355.
The next market focus is whether the MoUs move into land allocation, financial closure, environmental approvals, equipment orders and construction milestones. Those steps will determine how much of the proposed 11,742 MW becomes executable capacity. The 23 Nov derivatives expiry also places attention on the cited open-interest levels and max-pain points. 🌱
